Op-art short for optical art has been around since the ’60s and this home decor and style trend is still going strong. Think patterns that use subtle or disorienting forms, colors, and shapes to create a dizzying effect or to create the illusion of a three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface.
Talk about adding depth to a space — these patterns literally do this.
The most common or well-known optical pattern is the Escher stacked cube. I’m loving this trendy pattern in tile for a bathroom floor or decorative coffee table object. I have a feeling this look isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
